December 13, 2019: Guess what? Our New Voices Scholar Panel has been accepted to the Asian Studies Association of Australia (ASAA) Conference next year!
A big congratulations to our three scheduled panellists—Atsushi Yamagata, Sonja Petrovic and Monica Flint—who will be presenting research related to their recent NVJS papers:
- ‘Perceptions of Islam and Muslims in Contemporary Japan’ (Atsushi Yamagata, NVJS 11)
- ‘A Sense of Communal belonging in Digital Space: The Case of the 3.11 Disaster’ (Sonja Petrovic, NVJS 11)
- ‘Governor Takeshi Onaga and the US Bases in Okinawa: The Role of Okinawan Identity in Local Politics’ (Monica Flint, NVJS 10)
The panel will be chaired by our NVJS 12 Guest Editor, Dr Alexander Brown.
#ASAA2020 will be held at The University of Melbourne, July 6-9. See the #ASAA2020 website for conference details.
We look forward to supporting these New Voices Scholars as they share their research at #ASAA2020, and we hope to see you there!
