Nov 12, 2018: If you’re not in or from Australia or New Zealand but want to submit to NVJS, then this message is for you!

Postgraduate scholars who present at the Japanese Studies Association of Australia (JSAA) 2019 conference will be eligible to submit to New Voices in Japanese Studies under our new ‘Postgraduate Presenter’ category.

Why Australia and New Zealand?
NVJS is funded by The Japan Foundation, Sydney, which has a regional remit covering Australia and New Zealand. This is why we’ve only been able to take submissions from authors who are in or from those countries in the past.

However…
With our new ‘Postgraduate Presenter’ category, we can now accept work from authors outside of this region. The local tie requirement is unchanged; it’s just been broadened to include scholars who show an interest in the region by attending selected conferences for professional development and networking.

The target conference for this category will alternate between JSAA and the Asian Studies Association of Australia (ASAA) conferences each year.

What next?
For more info about the ‘Postgraduate Presenter’ category, see the NVJS Eligibility Criteria. For enquiries regarding NVJS eligibility, contact us via the email address in the footer of this website.

For info on JSAA 2019 and abstract submission, see the conference website (the JSAA Call for Papers closes Nov 30, 2018).

Spread the word! :)
