New Voices in Japanese Studies (NVJS) is delighted to welcome Dr Olivier Krischer as Guest Editor for Volume 9.

Olivier completed his doctorate at the University of Tsukuba in Japan, and is fluent in Japanese, Chinese and French. He is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the Australian Centre on China in the World (CIW), Australian National University (ANU), and his research concerns the role of art in modern and contemporary China-Japan relations, as well as recent networks of artistic activism across East Asia.

Olivier also has experience in editing, as former managing editor of ArtAsiaPacific magazine in Hong Kong, and as co-editor of Asia through Art and Anthropology (Bloomsbury, 2013) and the special issue of Australia & New Zealand Journal of Art, ”Asian Art Research in Australia and New Zealand” (Taylor & Francis, 2016).

He has lectured in art and design history at the University of Tsukuba (Japan), University of Sydney, University of Technology, Sydney and ANU, and has acted as a curator and film programmer at CIW in addition to his role as a researcher.

We’re very glad to have Olivier on board, and look forward to working with him to produce our upcoming volume!
